States

I think there are only two things to talk about today.

One: the state of the Union.

and

Two: the state of my house.

Since we can pretty much all agree that the state of the Union is something we can Google, I choose to concentrate the state of my house.

And it is thus: really really scary and neglected. For a number of reasons.

I am in the midst of preparing for YW Camp.
Our family returned late Saturday from camping.
Before we left for camping, we had to address a refrigerator that was on the brink of retirement.

I don't know how other people do it, but when I am concentrating on something pretty big- such as girl's camp- my house seems to be the last thing on my list. And, my kids do an amazing job at keeping it pretty much, well, a mess. However, they are usually pretty good about helping me clean it up when the time comes.

Throw a ward campout in the mix, with a refrigerator malfunction hours before leaving, and it is like we have passed the point of no return.

Camping was a blast. We had a great time with our family. And messy houses can keep. Believe me.

But now, here I am, in the midst of disorganization and chaos. And it can probably wait until I complete my big projects. At which point, I plan on having an all-out cleaning blitz.

And I'm afraid I am prepared to throw many things away.

Which may or may not improve the state of the Union.

I totally understand. Today is cleaning day here all the before wedding stuff is done and I can't start cooking until tomorrow so hopefully today is the day.

that seems to be murphys law. The busier we are the messier our house gets, and the more things the kids manage to get into.

The house is something I let go too when I'm in the middle of an all-consuming project. Mine is only a minor disaster today but the laundry is piled high. I hate laundry.

My bigger problem is that I'm more than happy to take on a big, interesting project because it KEEPS me from having to clean the house constantly!

I know the feeling. I save things for years. YEARS. and then throw it all away once I get fed up with it.

I wish I could just bring myself to chuck it BEFORE giving it a space in my closet to collect dust.

oh- and my house is a disaster as well. none of us have ANY clean clothes. and ammon told me all he wants for father's day is a clean house & a happy wife....and it wouldn't hurt if the laundry got done either. (that is my least fave answer when asking what he wants for any given holiday)

Hang in there...my mom was here for a week and helped me catch up on laundry. I'm still on top so sending you cleaning fairy dust sprinkles so you can rest in peace. Good luck with all the girls camp prep! Bribe your kids to help you! They are good at stuff they just need to be delegated to:) Love ya!

Girl's Camp requires a month of PRE and a month of POST.

And then at least three more to recover.

The house will keep.

All I can say is Amen.

I'm hearing you loud and clear. I'm done with camp, but having a hard time getting myself up and cleaning. "That Girl" is right- you definitely need a month of post camp recovery. All those things I put off until after camp are still here waiting for me! Why can't they just go away?! My bathrooms are screaming my name! Good luck with camp and living!

I'm glad to know I'm not unique. Big project first, organized house later. Also it helps me to keep in mind this quote I came upon once' "Boring women have immaculate homes." And I'm definitely not boring :-)
