So there are a few blogs out there that I really love. Like, Really. Love. Ones that if I ever received a comment from them on my little space I would feel like I had arrived.
Those are the blogs that I get excited when I see that they have posted something.
And I read those blogs, but never comment. Because it is like they are at the cool table and I am not. And entering their domain is intimidating to me. And I will tell you why. It is my belief that once I comment on their blog, they will be like: "Who is this trublubyu? And why is she at my table? Who invited her? I must check her profile."
And I flatter myself to believe that they will immediately click on my profile and then follow the link to my blog to see if I am worthy. And if my post for that day is not the bomb (do the people at the cool table still use that phrase?), then my one chance at sitting at the cool table will be gone. Forever. Like families or diamonds. (they are forever)
So, I wait until the day that I have a post that is the bomb. And when that day comes, I am going to make my way over to that cool table and leave comments all over it in hopes that those cool table peeps will follow my link and love what I have to say and tell me in an awesome comment. And truly, it's not about the comment- it's that an amazing writer took a moment to click on over to my place and read my meager offering.
And then I will know...
That I am still the same person I was yesterday. But now I have an extra comment.
Author's note: to all the friends I have made through blogging, this is not to say that I do not admire your blogs- we have established a connection and I love it! Thanks for inviting me to your cool table. I am still in awe of having a place there.

I left a little one line comment on Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer last week. It wasn't snarky, it wasn't witty, it was actually kind of boring. But I can't believe how many people have clicked over to my blog from her address because of that one comment... of course, no one has left a comment. So maybe my posts have sucked. Sigh.
I didn't mean for that to sound so down on myself. Sheesh. I just know all too well how you feel about not sitting at the cool kids table. That's all :)
i think u r da bomb (that's how really cool people say it).
I sometimes find that there are some blogs that I really like and I tend to comment. But my paranoia tends to doubt that they will click over because of all the other comments that are already there.
I did read someone's post about how they would much rather read one good comment than the hundreds of short comments that many people leave just to say they were there. If you're going to comment, make it good so that they can't help but check out your bomb of a post.
i always thought YOU were the cool table..
hum..
Three things:
1. Confession: You're one of those people at the cool table for me. I wish I had a small piece of your storytelling ability.
2. I think THIS is the post. I think they'd love it (if they connect the dots that THEY are the ones at said cool table).
3. Who are these blogs you follow? I'm always looking for enjoying reading.
Your blog is one that I am always excited about reading. I love to see that you have posted something new. And I love that I can say, "I knew them when..."
oh, so THAT'S why it took you so long to leave a comment on one of my posts... I'M the cool table!! good to know and...i forgive you for waiting so long! =P
no, really, i agree with your other friends. you ARE the cool table.
I have had these exact feelings.
There are days (though rare) that I feel extremly confident de-lurking, because my post doesn't suck.
Then I remember that sometimes when I have a new commenter, it takes me days to get to their blog. And if they're post is less than spectacular........I read on, hoping they aren't totally lame.
I'm glad you aren't totally lame. The first post of yours I really remember was about some old lady at BYU that was famous, or at least was to you. I don't remember more details than that, but I thought it was witty and I liked you. So I kept coming back.
We can make a cool table of our own.
I feel like I've gotten invited to the cool table the couple of times that YOU have commented on my blog!
I'll just keep trying to post great stories that inspire you so you'll come back again and again and leave MORE comments (I Have been a little dry lately)
:~D
you make me laugh, and this reminds me of things I think about, but just don't say.
I know what you mean. There are some blogs out there that are just too....intimidating..... to leave a comment. I never thought of them being at the cool table but you are SO right! Good analogy! I also would like to know who's blogs are "the cool ones" It's always fun to read new blogs!
how funny...i used to stalk your blog before i finally left a comment. i thought and i still think you are a very good writer. you're cool and you don't know it? hey, that makes you even cooler. u r da bomb :-)
haha! this is pretty funny. I have a few blogs that I think pretty highly of too... But, your blog stood just b/c of the trubluBYU! love it...miss that place, and wanted to stop by and proclaim it!
I always thought you were part of the cool table.
