space

so, some sundays, at church, i feel crowded from my kids, like- can't anyone sit on their own lap, and can i get just two inches of room between me and the next person?

what do you think would happen if i suddenly yelled out: "stop touching me! get off my lap, keep your body out of my space!"

do you think anyone would notice?

cause i kinda felt like i was about to do that today.

just saying.

I have felt like that a lot. I feel like I have been through a wrestling match at times. Maybe we should plan a yell out all at once so that we all would look weird, not just one person. :)

i think that no one would blame you. that the bishopric & speakers would understand. and all the other parents (moms) would applaud you. maybe, on days like these, it would be OK to take yourself "out". just a thought...

Maybe they're just wanting some "bonding time"

There is something magnetic about a mother and her children in sacrament meeting. At least that is my theory. I'd so pay money to see someone stand up and yell!

Oh dear, I already feel like that and Eva is only 6 months old!

Sometimes I do say that- and my kids think I'm wierd...I probably am! Oh well, hope your Sunday's get better:)

Haha! I have totally been there! It usually ends with me saying something like, "Could I just have some space, please?" And a child with hurt feelings and puppy dog eyes.

You'd probably get a chorus of Amens! I've felt like that too. It sometimes seems so pointless because it's tough to get anything out of the whole experience when you're constantly shuffling and shushing kids.

Thank you for putting words to this common, though somewhat odd, problem. As you were.

oh my gosh. I think we had similar days then. I've had like touch overload recently, and absolutely no "personal space" time at all. It's constantly invaded, and the screaming about it, probably won't help. Because it didn't for me. But who knows maybe you'll have better luck. Hope your next Sunday isn't so "invaded".

I remember thinking, when I had three toddlers all wanting my lap at once, that I had just been through a battle at the end of church. Afer the third one, you start to get used to it. You have out of body moments to get thru...
Hey, don't forget about the blog award I have for you. Hop on over to get it! Thanks! :~D

We only have one so far, so I have no experience with multiples.

However, since one squirms enough to make me a giant sweat ball by the end of church, I can only imagine what I'm in for when we have another one.

I would like to tell you it would get better, but I have a 17 year old 6'5" 220 boy leaning on my shoulder, in and out of sleep. Yesterday he was twitching so bad I felt as if my life were in peril. His 13 year old brother is also right next to me. But I have to say when they are both on the stand till after the sacrament I do feel quite lonely on my little bench all by myself.

If you wait until your oldest daughter is 15 and your youngest son is almost 8 and still wants to sit on your lap, the 15-year-old will say it for you. Of course, she doesn't notice that she's crammed right next to me on one side, another son is on the other, and said 8-year-old is on my lap. Why does everyone want to sit by mom? Maybe I should wear brussel sprout perfume!

I tell my kids about personal space. My son is a space share-er and I have a huge personal space ring. But no, I think every mom would smile the smile of knowing how that feels.

Ha! Probably no one WOULD notice. You know how loud and unruly Sacrament meeting can be :) Oye.
